Journal #2

In this society there is both healthy and unhealthy competition. The healthy competition can be between stores like Walmart and Target. They try to compete on who has the better prices and at the end of the day it benefits the customer and they get the better deal and the stores get more customers hence more money for the company. The unhealthy competition can be among sports teams themselves. For example, on the track team can be who has the faster runner or theater on who gets the spotlight or the part in the play. A experience that I experienced was while I was a cheerleader here at Castle Park High. One of my good friends has been in cheer ever since she was eight years old and she was in JV while other girls were in Varsity. One day I was at her house and I decided to go to Facebook and on my Newsfeed I see a Varsity Cheerleader write and letter saying horrible things about Junior Varsity. Other Varsity girls commented on the status and also said horrible things about the team especially at my friend. They were saying how she was "gumpy" and she did not know how to Cheer and how she thought she was Varsity material. I known this girl for sometime and not once have I seen her boast about how much better she is than other girls she was, not once has she said she was Varsity material. Up to this date I still don't know why they were cyberbullying her if she wouldn't hurt a fly. Were they seeing her as competition? Did they think she was stealing THEIR spot light? Or was it just plain entertainment for the other girls to see Junior Varsity go down on the "social scale"?
